Can't set up any kind of server on my Windows 10 machine using the Intel dual-band wireless-AC 3165 adapter. The issue isn't with the router—other devices connect without problems. I can join LAN servers but can't create new ones. It's not just a matter of random servers failing; this isn't happening with any server.

Your network configuration is likely public. Paradoxically, this disables all services on your PC by default. Adjust it to private so other devices can access services hosted on your system. Learn more: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...0da607448d

Good catch, it's clear. Public refers to an open network with uncertain security, allowing Windows to enforce tighter firewall settings, while private is somewhat more accessible because the network is considered reliable.

I experienced a comparable problem, and the fix helped. I asked whether it's possible to let Jellyfin run while maintaining a public network, so that private settings wouldn't expose the system if the network were breached. Thanks.

Open Windows Defender Firewall, then tap the advanced options link on the left. Enjoy exploring. I’ve set up several IP rules to restrict external access and block most local traffic. I also have DNS servers blocked to prevent circumvention attempts.
