Unable to run additional monitors at full refresh rate; can be handled individually.
I possess a fresh 4K display at 60Hz and a supplementary 2K screen at 144Hz. Running the latter at 120Hz works, but adding the new monitor limits performance to 30Hz. Removing the 2K unit allows the 4K to operate at 60Hz either via my laptop or docking station. Even when lowering the 2K monitor’s speed to 60Hz, the problem remains unresolved and I still can’t boost the new screen’s refresh rate. It seems the connections manage data flow smoothly when used alone, yet performance drops unexpectedly. My system runs Windows 10 with an RTX 3080 and a Ryzen 9 processor. Someone else reported the same issue online, but no solutions were provided. Thank you for your assistance.
If it's merely a docking station, that explanation could fit well since similar constraints often apply across different models. Regarding connecting the monitors via separate ports—such as one HDMI and another DisplayPort—I don’t see any need to force them to run at the same refresh rate unless there’s a specific technical reason why the ports would conflict.
