Unable to remove games from the Windows Store.
Hi everyone, I got Halo on the Windows Store and ended up with two folders. I can't remove a folder named "Microsoft.Chelan_1.2282.0.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe" and I'm also stuck deleting it. It says I need permission from DESKTOP-XXXXXXX/USERNAME to make changes. I've checked security and permissions, but this is the only account I have, which is admin-level. It's using up 130GB of my 256GB SSD, wow!
Earlier, I attempted to remove the issue from the store, but it didn’t work. Then I tried deleting the files, which also failed. Now I’m left with 20GB of storage occupied by deleted items that I can’t remove, and the files remain visible on the site.
You can attempt to execute the disk cleanup tool, reboot your device, and apply available updates. After installing updates and restarting a few times, Windows may perform certain background operations slowly due to processing delays. Once these tasks complete, you can run disk cleanup again to delete any remaining files.
I attempted to remove it using the standard method, but it isn’t listed anywhere on my system. It also doesn’t appear in the Add/Remove section.
Try this registry adjustment for yourself and the other party. Includes a "take ownership" feature in the context menu, which performs great for removing unwanted Windows Store installations that you can't usually delete. Recently used it to clear problematic Store sets when an external drive was reinstalled, even though the drive letters remained unchanged. InstallTakeOwnership.reg
