OS: MacOS BigSur v11.0.1
Device: Apple M1 Macbook Air
Message: I'm attempting to configure MS Remote Desktop on my Mac to link it with my home PC, but the connection keeps failing. I've entered the IP and gateway from the 'ipconfig' command output, but when prompted for user credentials and gateway verification, it crashes with "An error occurred while communicating with the Remote Desktop Gateway." Anyone know what's going wrong?

Yes, you're using a home PC and likely accessing it over the internet.

My MacBook and PC are connected to the same local network, but I need them to be accessed from another state soon. I'm trying to resolve this issue right away.

The operating system version on your desktop is currently unknown. Consider using TeamViewer or a comparable solution if Remote Desktop isn't suitable.

You're experiencing issues with Microsoft Remote Desktop on Windows 10 version 2004. It's possible compatibility problems due to the older OS version.

Yes, RDP is activated on the server side, but it's not automatically set up.
