I'm testing this 3200Mhz 2X8GB memory setup that comes with an ASRock X570 PG and R7 5800X. Despite trying various adjustments, I can't reach the rated speeds even when boosting voltage. When I set the default XMP profile it just fails to boot and restarts at a lower frequency. Some users manage to push higher speeds—sometimes up to CL14 4000Mhz at around 1.54V—but my experience is unstable with frequent crashes. I've also experimented with 3133Mhz, which works but causes instability. I've changed BIOS versions and even increased voltage to 1.4V without success. It seems the default configuration might have incorrect settings. Could there be an issue with the BIOS or a wrong RAM slot? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Regarding the voltage, it might reach about 1.2V during overclocking, though a higher value isn't always advantageous. Also, ensure you're using slots 2 and 4, which in a 1234 layout means slot 2 is next to the socket and slot 4 is adjacent as well.
This seems like a possible issue with your UMC on the 5800x. It could be due to the memory topology on that board being subpar. Consider raising your SOC voltage and tweaking the load line (it performs best around 1.15V with Level 2 LLC on my X570 Taichi and 5900X). The tRCD 14 at 3200MHz is quite demanding on the memory controller, which might explain the concern about a weak controller. If voltage adjustments don’t resolve the problem, experiment with termination settings. ProcODT plays a big role in memory stability, and the BIOS may be misconfigured for your specific memory type (ProcODT 36.9 Ohms works well with dual rank B dies on my board, which could share similar topology). You might also try adjusting Rtt values to see if they help stabilize performance. Also note, these sticks are Samsung B dies, allowing you to safely apply 1.8V without issues, so you can boost stability if needed.
I'm not quite sure why it's functioning now, but using the 2/4 slots this time resolved the issue. I matched the voltage they mentioned in the Amazon review, and it's stable at around 3800Mhz with 1.54v. I'm not sure if I should go higher yet, but I'm happy with the performance.
