Are there CPU Load Line Calibration (LLC) BIOS configurations on your board? Which choices are offered?
It includes "CPU LLC". Five settings are possible: Auto, Regular, Medium, High, and Extreme.
I changed it during the previous trial by setting it to Extreme, but it didn't work.
You'll be presented with a three-letter code to assess VRM temperatures. Increasing the voltage by 1600 can raise it significantly. At 1800 (and especially with your current setup) it will exceed 100°C, reaching around 120 or 125. This means you're looking at about 800 hours of capacitor lifespan. @jdwii
I lack a way to measure temperatures directly and don’t have any guides explaining the temperature setup for this board. The board features a 6-phase VRM, and the heatsink felt almost cool during testing. I discovered the Asus Prime x370 Pro costs roughly $30 more than what I paid, so I’m returning the original and getting the upgraded model. It offers superior fan headers and a 10-phase VRM. Other advantages the x370-a provides aren’t listed in the reviews I found. When I bought (and still buy) the x370-a, it received top ratings on Amazon for its price range—5 stars out of 5. The VRMs here aren’t overly concerning, but the additional fan headers and extra features on the Pro model are quite attractive. I’m not particularly interested in overclocking the CPU; instead, adjusting voltages manually gave me better results. This board automatically increased the voltage to 1.42+v at stock, which wasn’t ideal. Probably because manually tweaking voltages and boosting the LLC circuit put extra stress on the VRMs.
This VRM gets quite hot during stress testing at 1600 at 1.4V and 3.8GHz. You can see it on the Strix B350 motherboard (R7 1700X) here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11w0V4Kr...p=drivesdk. I’m familiar with the VRM setup. It’s a fairly weak one, only 6 core OC at its maximum. I’ve taken some photos if you’d like to see. The design has 4+2 VRM configuration. The Prime X370 Pro actually has a much better VRM than some premium boards. Don’t rely too heavily on reviews, especially for motherboards.
