I usually don't share posts on such platforms but I'm really puzzled by this situation. My 1800x runs smoothly at 4.0GHz even with 1.4v, which is normal. But it struggles to hit 3.925GHz at 1.338v—below the standard voltage. Yet it manages 3.925GHz without issues, especially since I can reach that speed at higher voltages. I maintain 3.925GHz effortlessly because pushing above stock voltage is a clear advantage. (My temperatures drop to around 21°C idle—maximum at 58°C under prime95). My setup includes a Ryzen 7 1800x, Asus Prime x370-a, and a 2400MHz 32GB RAM module at 2400Mhz. CoolerMaster MasterLiquid 240.

It's around 4.0GHz, which fits the typical range. I don't understand why this matters, maybe AMD is trying to mess with me.

Different chips behave differently. Some reach high performance levels, while others struggle to hit basic standards regardless of voltage applied. This happens because manufacturing processors aren't perfectly uniform—some chips are naturally better than others. This variability is referred to as the silicon lottery. Occasionally you get a chip that performs almost flawlessly (a lucky winner), and other times you encounter poorly made chips (losers in the draw).

I tested three Ryzen 1800X processors and found one reaching 4.0Ghz, while others maxed out at 3.9Ghz. Changing the voltage didn’t make a difference.

Attempt voltages under 1.5 yet above 1.4. Adjust the black or similar. Otherwise, you've missed the silicon chance. Only a slight increase of 100 MHz. Accept the loss and proceed.

I understand the 3.9GHz setting works well for me—it's much faster than my FX-8350 and a noticeable improvement compared to XFR’s performance. After installing, the voltage stayed around 1.41 with XFR enabled, reaching 75°C quickly. I’m experimenting with a bit more voltage to see if I can reach 4.0GHz. It seems like hitting that target is quite challenging. I noticed a rough plateau after going up to 1.425V; even then, Prime95 didn’t stabilize. After lowering back down to 3.925GHz and reducing the voltage to 1.325V, things improved significantly. A 225MHz boost at 0.025v below stock still performs well. I’d avoid going above 1.4V since it gets too hot. My FX-8350 rarely exceeded 35-37°C unless under heavy load. The 1800x model definitely runs differently and is a tougher beast to handle.

wait what?! my ryzen 7 can only go 3.8GHz at 1.35v . need 1.46v for 3.9GHz. im in indonesia, using Noctua NH-C14S and Raidmax Element case. is that ok to go 1.46v all day long? or just go back to 1.35v?
