The situation is clearly described. I've noticed it several times, though I think it's been happening for a while now. Basically, after a few wake-up cycles, the computer struggles to shut down properly—it turns off but then comes back on right away. The only fix I've tried is pressing the power button to end it. Recently, when sleeping, it didn't shut down at all; the monitors stopped showing anything, but the system just kept running for at least five minutes. I'm not entirely sure if this has been going on longer than three times, but I suspect it might have been happening before. At home, my mom often complains when she gets back from work that the computer is still on. I'm pretty sure I rarely forget to turn it off, and I don't do it as often as people complain. It's possible this is connected to something else since in those three cases the USB ports stopped working on the same day, even though I don't know why. Also, there was an incident at uni where I cut a cable near my headset charging cable while sitting on my chair leg. That damaged the outer shell and broke one of the data wires. I guess it's unrelated, but I'm not sure. Ideally, I'd like to avoid replacing anything unless necessary, and I wouldn't want to reinstall Windows unless absolutely required (and that would be a hassle).
Hardware: Motherboard GA-X79-UP4, CPU 4930k, RAM 2x8GB, Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz, GPU GTX 980, PSU Corsair AX860i, storage mix of Samsung 840s/840EVOs, 2TB Caviar Green, and a few old Seagate 1TB HDDs.
USB 3.0 connections are no longer functioning properly. The Windows Energysaving profile requires more time when a USB drive is connected, as the system shuts down to conserve power. You need to adjust the Energysaving profile and disable the USB settings.
To consider what we aim for. It’s unclear when this will occur again—apologies if it seems like a simple inquiry; after all, there’s nothing absurd about asking.
