I recently purchased a PG258Q Asus monitor which supports 240Hz and I set the desktop refresh rate to this value. It functions correctly until I launch CS:GO. Using mat_info, I am informed that CS:GO is still running at 144Hz (Display mode : 1024 x 768 @144hz (BGRX8888)). VSYNC is disabled and -freq 240 is included in the launch options. Why does 240Hz not work with CS:GO?

Your rig may be a bottleneck if it's not a high-end model.

My frame rate is not the issue. Despite loading maps without bots and achieving 800 frames per second, `mat_info` still reports a refresh rate of 144Hz.

The monitor refresh rate set to 60Hz results in a visual experience and perceived performance that still resembles 144Hz, despite the desktop appearing and displaying at 60Hz.
