Hello, I need to refresh my bios to version 62d. However, each time I try to access q-flash, the bios freezes completely and nothing happens. I also used the Gigabyte app to update via BIOS but after selecting Update, the process starts but then shows reading/writing errors before displaying a failure message. Additionally, I attempted to reset the bios by removing the battery from the motherboard, but it didn’t make any difference. What should I do next? My PC specifications are Gigabyte B450 Aorus PRO (Rev 1.0) with BIOS version F50, AMD Ryzen 3600, and other components listed. Please let me know if you have any advice or suggestions.
I have a B450 Gigabyte too, I've tried Q-Flashing in the past and could never get it too work. I'd recommend leaving it alone, IF it's not a needed thing. - Best Wishes, Atreyu!
It's not something I require, but I'd appreciate the latest BIOS update due to the SAM function and other recent improvements.
A) SAM isn't supported on the 5700XT, and B) the 5700 XT lacks 16GB RAM. The 6700 XT includes SAM but only offers 12GB, so which GPU is correct? Q-flashing can be tricky—on my MSI board a 4GB USB 2.0 drive (version 3.x or later) is needed, and it must be formatted with FAT32; NTFS won't work. This advice comes from personal experience, not just MSI documentation.
It's a 5700XT with 8GB storage. The issue is that when I open the BIOS and press Q-Flash, it locks my entire system and I can't do anything. Also, trying to jump straight to Q-Flash from the main screen causes my screen to freeze completely to black.
We're discussing the Q-Flash button on the rear I/O. It's not a software method for updating the BIOS; it's a hardware solution that works without needing a CPU, memory, GPU, or any other components. You just need a motherboard, power supply, and a USB stick. Considering these strict constraints, Q-Flash is only meant for situations where other update methods might fail or if you lack the necessary operating system or hardware. Not to mention, the B450 Aorus Pro doesn't have a Q-Flash button on the rear I/O. @TrixCZE, if your system runs a functional BIOS and is operating smoothly, skip the update unless you specifically need it for troubleshooting or upgrading to a newer chipset like Zen 3 or RDNA 2.
