Unable to modify default applications on Windows 10
Unable to modify default applications on Windows 10
the process began when I attempted to switch my default video player to MPC player, but it wasn’t displayed in the list. Only media players from the app store appeared, such as VLC, which I had previously installed and later removed. When I tried to change it back in the video properties, nothing occurred. I’m not experiencing this issue before, so perhaps it’s related to a recent update. Anyone else encountered this problem and have any suggestions on how to resolve it?
You can operate your video player in admin mode and test it. OR... consider using a more aggressive tool. https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/file_types_manager.html I see Windows degrading performance with each update.
MPC is no longer available. In July 2017 an announcement was made on their official site: https://mpc-hc.org/2017/07/16/1.7.13-rel...-farewell/. They relied on a file association registry key that was phased out after Vista, and they had been given just over a decade to fix it by 2017—this didn’t happen. After Windows 10, Microsoft stopped providing support for the older file association methods.
This decision shouldn't be made by Microsoft alone. The user should have the final say on the preferred software.
