Hi, I understand the situation. You have an old HP laptop with an i5-7200U CPU that doesn't work with Windows 11. The other specs are fine, but the CPU is the main issue. You've searched online without success—anyone have tips on getting around this problem?

I've experimented with various approaches. I'm checking if an in-place upgrade is possible or if a clean install is needed. Consider using rufus and verify the bypass requirements for Windows 11.

it’s an old used laptop with some odd software installed, and I don’t want any of that left behind. I just need a fresh start, so I chose the clean install option. When I used the Flyby11 method, several videos appeared showing I’d also tried to modify regedit. Unfortunately, so far I haven’t had success.

I prepared the bootable USB by using Rufus, then tested it to confirm functionality. Flyby11 is recommended for upgrades, but you can switch to the bootable USB for a clean install.

During the Flyby11 process, the setup prompted whether to retain all files or leave everything empty. I selected "keep nothing," but it didn’t work as expected. The instructions didn’t mention creating a bootable USB, just to drag the ISO into the program and install from there.

Everyone mentioned using Rufus. Based on what I've tried, it's more straightforward and gives you full control over wiping the drive and starting over. You don't need Flyby11—just know what it does. Confirm your USB is bootable, format it in FAT32 via the file manager (right-click USB → Format, set dropdown to FAT32), then adjust your BIOS boot order to the highest level.
