Unable to launch the new build to activate the BOOT USB for my operating system installation.
I just completed assembling a new Alder Lake PC. Here are the components I used. CASE: RAIJINTEK PONOS TG, a Mid-Tower with tempered glass on the front and sides, EEB M/B, up to 390mm VGA slot, maximum 5×2.5" HDD, 360mm radiator at the front, up to 10×12025 fans, USB3.0 hub, magnetic dust filters. POWER SUPPLY: Corsair 750 Watt Modular Power Supply. (Only two cables leave the PS: the 24 Pin ATX and the 8 Pin CPU cables.) MOTHERBOARD: ASRock Z690 Pro RS LGA 1700 Intel Z690 SATA 6Gb/s DDR4 ATX. RAM: G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2 x 8GB), 288-pin PC RAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600). CPU: Intel Core i9-12900K - Core i9 12th Gen Alder Lake 16-Core (8P+8E), 3.2 GHz LGA 1700, 125W. Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 770 Desktop. AIO: Thermaltake TH360 ARGB Motherboard Sync Snow Edition Intel LGA1700 Ready/AMD All-in-One Liquid Cooling System. CPU Cooler: Sabrent 2TB Rocket 4 Plus NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe M.2 SSD, 7100/6600MB/s read/write (SB-RKT4P-2TB). I turned it on. The UEFI menu appeared with options like "Press F2 or DEL to enter the UEFI screen." I pressed F2 and entered BIOS. Everything displayed correctly. My Sabrent Rocket was ready, 16GB RAM installed, and the boot menu didn’t show any errors. I tried booting from an empty USB drive on ioddMINI, but it ignored key presses and wouldn’t boot Windows. I updated BIOS via Internet Flash, downloaded the update, but faced "Error saving file" and a BIOS error when trying to select F2. Eventually, I decided to reboot and tried entering BIOS again, but the system kept showing flash errors. I’m exhausted but hopeful. I’m curious if others have faced similar issues with USB ISO recognition and what steps might help. I’m considering using a DVD drive for installation tomorrow as a backup. Thanks, Randy!
I'm using a USB keyboard and it connects to the appropriate port. This appears to be a USB Keyboard issue, not related to your ISO file.
Also tried it! You're the one with the skills! I had a bunch of keyboards nearby, so I just changed it and voilà! All my issues disappeared. The problem with the keyboard was a Corsair Gaming K70 LUX RGB model. After installing my OS, everything functioned perfectly. I didn’t plug it back in yet since the operating system was set up. It might be a faulty keyboard, so I’ll consider testing it later. I figured the BIOS flashing issue was due to Asrock’s requirement for FAT32 on USB media, but my mini drive wasn’t formatted that way. I used an empty FAT32 USB stick to bypass the problem and successfully updated the BIOS. Installing the OS went smoothly. That swap really saved me a lot of hassle—I wouldn’t have bothered digging out an old DVD drive. Changing the keyboard was way simpler! Thanks a ton! Randy
