Unable to launch or remove the Autodesk Desktop Application.
Hi there,
The Autodesk Desktop App that tracks updates for Autodesk products has stopped functioning unexpectedly. My work applications like Revit, Autocad, and 3DS Max are still operating normally, but it’s unusual. The app icon now shows a blank paper image, and opening it returns the error “the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.” I’ve performed SFC and CHKDSK scans, confirming the drive is otherwise intact. When attempting uninstallation via settings or control panel, Windows reports that the “removeAdAppMgr.exe” file is missing and asks if I want to remove it. The app files remain on the drive, except for the uninstall file. I’ve tried reinstalling from the official website but encountered the same error messages.
Could you guide me through safely removing this app and then reinstalling it?
Thank you in advance.
If you access the registry, I would recommend creating a backup first.

Have you attempted this?
If certain steps fail, consider proceeding to the next one.
You might need to use a tool like Revo to remove all traces.
I actually came across that exact post during my first searches, but I've been waiting to act because one of the initial actions doesn't suit me—step 4. Uninstalling is what I'm holding off on.
The subsequent steps make me pause, as they require modifying the Microsoft Registry and other AD folders, and I'm worried it could disrupt the work apps.
I'll keep that as my final option.
Thanks for the suggestion about Revo, I'll check it out while I wait to see if it can help.
