Help me, guys. My little brother just came over, so I decided to set up GTA VC for him to play. When I tried to launch it, Windows seemed to install DirectPlay, but it failed. Then GTA showed an error saying it needs at least version 8.1. I also checked manually via Turn on Off Windows Features, but that didn’t work either.

This version doesn't work with Windows 8.1, similar to GTA IV—just handle it.

GTA VC wasn't built for Windows 8.1, so issues were unavoidable. Consider testing them in a WinXP SP2 compatibility mode to check functionality.

Yes, you can install version 8.1 temporarily and then upgrade to 11 afterward.

I've added all available dx packages from Microsoft, but nothing is working.

You might consider a PS2 emulator, though that's against the law...

I enjoy Crysis 2, Call of Duty Black Ops, Seeping Dogs, NFS, and MW, but not Grand Theft Auto V.
