Unable to install 3090 into Strix Z690E
Installing a strix 3090 into the z690e with the asus q retention proved challenging. The lock mechanism didn’t engage properly. The mb came with the m2 expansion card, which worked smoothly in a different pci with a standard retention. Using the m2 card with the q release retention also failed to secure the clip, unlike the 3090 where finger pressure helped lock it. I’m unsure if trying the 3090 with this setup is safe. Additionally, I observed some grease-like material coming from one of the capacitors—possibly excess flux. This part set is brand new.
