used an older CPU, no GPU, just one RAM stick. A few weeks ago my computer shut down completely. I replaced the power supply and motherboard but it still won’t start. Any advice before it’s too late?

We require additional information about your previous attempts. Which processors have you tested? What amount of RAM did you use? Were these the ones that previously worked? Did the CPUs come with integrated graphics? If not, it might not be able to start without a GPU. Are there any diagnostic codes being displayed? Is the front panel header connected correctly? Have you shorted the power button pins using a screwdriver or key to eliminate the case’s power button as a possible cause of the failure? Do any fans activate at all, or does the system appear completely unresponsive?

Used an older i5-9400F for diagnostics while the newer i7 has integrated graphics; shorting the two pins hasn’t helped. A small error speaker is connected (appears correct position), MBD and PSU are fine, power indicator shows standby, RAM functioned properly, and both systems worked independently.

Apologies, there were no fans to engage.

9400F lacks an integrated GPU, which means you won’t be able to capture an image. Also, if it’s not cooled properly, avoid running it longer than 30 seconds.

The alternative processor was the 1151v1. The 9400F uses 1151v2, so it requires a different BIOS and pin modification. You haven’t performed those changes yet.

Absolutely, without the GPU, the system wouldn't start at all.

It's hard to tell if it starts up without a screen! Since nothing illuminates and the fans aren't moving, it doesn't seem to be running.
