Purchased a Ryzen 5 3600 with B450 Aorus Elite recently. Despite adjusting BIOS settings, I couldn't overclock the processor. I tested several BIOS versions, but the issue persists. When booting with default settings, it works fine for Ryzen Master, even at lower voltages like 1.25V on 4.3GHz. However, changing clock speed in BIOS still prevents startup. I attempted a +0.200V boost in dynamic VCore, but it didn't help. Support response was slow, so I'm reaching out to the community for advice. Current BIOS: F52 (Agesa 1.0.0.6) with Amd cool option and C2 disabled. The LC-CC-120 cooler is functioning normally, never exceeding 70°C in Cinebench, around 40°C in idle, and 50-62°C during games at 4.25GHz.
The Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite and Pro feature a reduced BIOS interface. Modify the CPU multiplier/ratio with the '+' and '-' keys. Core Voltage changes must be made through offset adjustments, capped at ±0.300V. Also, tweak the CPU Load Line Calibration (LLC) to reduce CPU V DROOP. Otherwise, many users have achieved overclocking on Ryzen 3000 series via Ryzen Master. Generally, you're restricted to roughly 4.2GHz to 4.4GHz for all-core overclock on this series.
I was already familiar with it, which is why I mentioned the dynamic vcore. As discussed, no matter what I do, it won't boot if I touch the CPU's clock speed. I attempted using AMD OC and a standard multiplier, but neither worked. From other users, I learned they often overclock via Ryzen Master, though most didn’t face problems like this where core clocks can be adjusted without boot issues. Regarding the final point, it’s common knowledge among regular overclockers that running at 4.3GHz at 1.25V is impressive, especially since a friend needs at least 1.35V to maintain stability above 4.2GHz. The chip seems fine, but this BIOS quirk is quite bothersome.
In your case, I recommend continuing to boost performance using Ryzen Master. You might also consider moving to a B550 motherboard with a standard BIOS for better compatibility. This could be beneficial if you plan to upgrade to the Ryzen 4000 lineup.
@-rascal- I mean.. I literally just bought the mobo,there's no way I'll be upgrading in atleast next 2 years. I'm really not considering any kind of upgrades,just tryna figure out my current situation because it's annoying to run ryzen master,wait for that "warning" to pop-up and they re-apply the settings every time I reboot/boot.
Where did you purchase it from? Can you return or exchange the motherboard? I haven’t used Ryzen Master for overclocking—mostly just to monitor things after assembling the system. Is there a way to load a profile or run automatically at startup? The AMD Radeon software can handle that for GPUs, but I’m not sure why it’s missing for CPUs.
From a reseller in another country, I’m unsure I’ll be able to exchange things yet—testing has been ongoing for about 20 days now. I might ask, but it seems unlikely since both parties would lose out. The Ryzen Master is what I really need, though the main issue is you have to start it manually. There’s no autorun on boot-up, and when you do run it, a pop-up appears every time, wasting time and upsetting users. It’s simple to load a profile, but it feels odd. Probably they’re hinting that damaging the chip means your fault, but I think we should have a way to disable that warning. For auto-start, they mentioned it’s meant to stop bad OCs and force reinstalling the OS just in case. (Maybe people aren’t aware of repair or safe mode options.)
