Check where you're attaching the USB drive. Make sure the USB is connected to the motherboard, not just the case. Try plugging it into the back of the PC to test.

Yes, that's correct! Once that connection is made, the original USB port you used may stop functioning properly.

It has to be connected to the motherboard. There is a cable from the case to the motherboard. Is it USB 2.0 or 3.0?

It seems the issue is linked to the motherboard connection, as your peripherals function normally with the keyboard and mouse but not with the flash drive. The problem might be specific to USB-powered devices versus other USB devices.

Certain motherboards can be tricky for starting from a USB drive. A flash drive should suffice for data after you're running Windows.
