Unable to establish a connection to the 5GHz network solely on Windows.
I put in a new AX210 PCIe card from AORUS on my desktop. It works fine with 2.4GHz networks but not with the 5GHz one. I’ve checked everything—BIOS, updates, driver reinstalls, and even removed the drivers to try Intel versions. The problem stays consistent: the PC connects to 5GHz, but after a network change it shows no internet connection. Refreshing or opening a new tab triggers errors saying I’m not connected or it keeps trying forever until I restart. Two days ago I finally got it working again after uninstalling and deleting the drivers via Device Manager, but after a power cut and reboot, the issues returned, leading me to suspect a software issue. To rule out hardware problems, I used an Ubuntu Live USB and it connected instantly on 5GHz even after several restarts. My system is a fresh Windows 11 install with all updates applied. The only time I managed a connection was when I followed the steps above. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Do you have the previous Wi-Fi card? If yes, test it out and check if 5GHz is functional.
What is the make and model of your wireless router or gateway? What are the wireless configurations on that device for the 5GHz band? Have you attempted to reset the network from within Windows and then reconnect? Are there other Wi-Fi signals nearby that your computer can access?
