It seems MS is being installed gradually across all PCs. I received it roughly 4 hours ago, with the initial versions showing up about 16 hours prior. It likely appears during startup, though I’m not certain if it happens randomly when the machine powers on.

It seems this happens regularly at 8pm Eastern for me, which isn't very random. You can try forcing the update to show up if needed. I believe this is the approach for 8/8.1: If not, just update and reboot. If that fails, installing the optional updates might help.

Uhm no. You have a year. The servers are going to be crippled day one anyways so as was said calm your titties you have about 2 months before this is even close to an issue.
