I've enabled automatic updates and turned on all notifications. All important and optional updates were installed, and the system restarted as needed. I'm having trouble locating the update icon anywhere on my taskbar—it's not even visible in the "little arrow" menu, and it doesn't appear in the Windows Update control panel. My Windows is 100% genuine and fully up to date. I have Windows 7 Home Premium with all updates applied. Thanks, Microsoft! Also, some of these updates have triggered security essentials, which are now causing random unwanted software from Microsoft to appear in my task manager. Can I completely remove the security essentials? But first, I need to get rid of that Windows 10 icon.

I use Windows 7 and haven't encountered it yet. On another machine with Windows 8.1, it's already enabled.

I checked for updates, applied all available ones, skipped optional ones except Skype, restarted and the setup asked again.

Well good for flipping you. That does not solve the problem at hand here at all.

You asked for it for the sake of it? It doesn’t alter anything. You’re just receiving an additional icon.

Really, you don't need to be so harsh. All the posts I've seen suggest you should bring some kind of tone to them. Keep it calm.

I don't have access to your system details. Please check your device settings or running applications to find the Windows version.

Windows 10's release is delayed until late July. The update isn't a major issue. It should appear then during the summer months.

The article mentions an update titled "KB3035583 update" and provides a link to it. I checked my PC and confirmed it received the update, but there is no icon or related information about the GET app.

To make sure I secure it, I need the icon so I can complete the task easily. Since my PC might not display it, I want to avoid paying for Windows 10. I also need to disable auto updates so they don’t push me too far.
