Hello! I’m working on assembling my first PC and am stuck at the troubleshooting stage. My motherboard is the B660 gaming x ax DDR4, paired with a Zotac RTX 3060 Ti OC graphics card, connected to an EVGA 80+ 850 G+ Supernova power supply. The CPU is an Intel Core i5-12400. I’ve heard that turning on the board outside the case requires shorting the PWR pins. Since my motherboard lacks a power pin, only a reset pin exists. But using a screwdriver didn’t work, and even pressing the reset switch had no effect. I checked around the board and found a QFLASH_BIOS button that made fans spin and the little indicator light change color—suggesting it was active. However, it only worked briefly before everything slowed down. I tried resetting again multiple times, but it always shut off after a short time. I looked it up and realized this button likely serves an upgrade function rather than the main power switch. I removed the motherboard cables and connected them to the PSU’s test block; it powered on normally. Still, the pins and switch remain unresponsive. I’m unsure what’s causing the issue or where the real power-on switch is located. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The PWR pins are located above the reset pins. This is the usual arrangement—check your device’s manual for details. The two you need to connect are the ones required to power it on.

Thanks for the confirmation! It was a bit tricky since the board didn’t include a manual and only had a user guide.
