Unable to detach the optical cable from the input/output port.
Hey everyone, I'm trying to get the optical cable out of the optical out port but can't seem to. I've tried forcing it, moved it around, but nothing works. I recall that when I connected it, I had to apply a little pressure and it would click into place. Any tips?
I tried using a different approach by pushing the cable jack in the opposite direction. I had to reinstall MoBo and attempted it, thinking I might have damaged the optical socket pins since they share the same input as the HDMI output.
Explain how you position the fingernail as a pry bar, keeping the tip away from the socket to help push the plug out. You usually hold the plug between your finger and thumb, placing your thumb’s nail in the gap between it and the socket. Then gently pull using that grip, letting the thumb’s nail act as a pry tool while you apply force. This combined pulling-and-prying method lets you exert much more pressure than just pulling alone. Your thumb’s nail is trained for prying, so it pushes against the socket effectively, minimizing strain on it.
I was looking for a way to demonstrate my idea by using what I had on hand... the empty area should be near your mainboard with the cable connected. Place the nail in the space between the motherboard and the plug, then grab the remaining part of the plug as if you're holding a knife. Try to move it gently. I used the pincer as the plug and positioned the nail where needed.
