Use SSH to view the .xsessions file with a command like cat ~/.xsession. It seems you're attempting to use gnome-session on Ubuntu 2d. XFCE is often recommended for XRDP. You can install XFCE and switch to it by running the provided sudo apt-get commands. After that, try connecting again.
