I apologize for the delayed response. While I was checking online, I came across an article mentioning a hidden feature on my modem called LAN & WAN isolation. This setting turns off ports 2 through 4 on my modem and router, which affects the connection between wired and wireless links. If I follow the guidance, I should be able to toggle this option on or off, allowing all four Ethernet ports to work and enabling communication between wired and wireless devices. In the diagram, you can see I’m using the router supplied by my ISP. My issue is that only wired devices can communicate with each other, and likewise for wireless ones like my Android phone or RPi0W. I can’t connect a wired device to a wireless one using Putty or Remote Desktop, nor vice versa. The wired-to-wireless and wireless-to-wireless setups connect locally to the internet, but not between them. It seems the LAN & WAN isolation is meant to separate wired and wireless networks (or the WiFi acting as a LAN bridge). The next image shows me disabling my modem’s WiFi and adding a router, which has resolved the problem so far. The ISP’s modem/router appears to be the main limitation. They’ve disabled ports 2, 3, and 4 and turned off WiFi bridging. This forced me to buy a switch and a separate router, which saved money.

Did you check that link? It mentions AP isolation and hints at a possible workaround based on settings. It’s unclear if you share the same ISP, but different providers might have varying restrictions and passwords. The suggested fixes point to specific information in the referenced post.

Just arrived to look for responses. I recall reading the thread you shared. I also tried contacting them via Discord about my issue, but the isolation persisted. I even visited my ISP to get the recommended admin credentials, but it didn’t work. Thanks @Alex Atkin UK for your assistance with my question. Right now, I’m sticking with my initial fix and will update you if I discover a more affordable or effective solution.
