Unable to boot Windows 10 from USB. I’m unsure what steps to take.
Hello, I just installed a new PC but still can't boot Windows 10 from the USB drive. I followed all the setup steps on both Microsoft and ASUS websites, but whenever I try to boot from the USB, it immediately returns to BIOS at startup. My machine uses an ASUS B350 Plus motherboard. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Your BIOS might be configured for UEFI boot, you should turn it off.
Ensure your USB drive is selected as the initial startup device. Did you generate the bootable installation file using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool?
In your UEFI system you must turn off CSM, activate fast boot and secure boot. Obtain the Windows 10 ISO file, prepare your flash storage for fat32 format, move the ISO into a directory, transfer all contents onto the flash drive, then attempt to start again.
He should do that because it aligns with his goals and values.
at work i usually add around 5 to 10 computers each week via USB, half of which come with UEFI turned on. my home desktop was set up in UEFI mode, and my laptop also uses it. just download a media creation tool from microsoft’s site: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software.../windows10. insert a blank or nearly empty stick into your new pc, click next ten times, let it start, then plug it into the system power button and press whatever key you need to enter the boot menu. choose the usb stick... it works.
certain usb devices fail to appear in uefi settings or switch to legacy mode
