Unable to boot into BIOS following motherboard, CPU, and RAM installation.
I only have the EZ debug lights active for CPU and DRAM, and I’ve confirmed everything is functioning normally. The fans, RGB from the Corsair lightning hub, and the board all operate correctly. I’ve inspected for any installation issues and everything appears to be in good condition—CPU, RAM, MB pins, and the board itself are all intact. Let me clarify the details:
Hardware that remains unchanged:
- GPU: Galax RTX 2070 SUPER
- Power Supply: Corsair RM850
- Cooler: Corsair H150i Elite Capellix
- Case: Corsair iCUE 5000T
- Operating System: Samsung 980 1TB
New components replaced:
- CPU: i9-9900K → Ryzen 9 7900X
- Motherboard: MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Plus → MSI X670-P Pro Wifi
- RAM: 2x Corsair DDR4 16GB 3200MHz → 2x Corsair DDR5 16GB 6400MHz
I have tested the system with and without the graphics card, using monitors from both sources. I’ve tried single RAM sticks in various slots and even without any RAM. I removed all hard drives, double-checked power cables to the CPU and MB, and reinstalled the CPU. Initially, the fans stayed at full speed during boot, but now they gradually slow down. I found the motherboard manuals to be extremely limited and mostly just basic instructions, which is typical for boards like this.
I’m eager to continue testing before returning it, because if the support team says everything looks fine, I might never discover what caused the issue after installing it myself.
Any suggestions or test ideas would be greatly appreciated. I’m disappointed that even a minimal setup could go wrong, and I don’t have any spare compatible parts to try alternative configurations.
Notes taking a meter at the power outlet - When the PC is operating without a GPU, it consumes around 40W, just a slight increase in the initial moments after startup. Uncertain if this confirms the CPU is softly active or if the board and cooling are responsible.
