No matter which emulator you choose for your Steam Deck, everyone seems to avoid using FSR. It looks like FSR isn't supported at all. Even though it appears active in the emulator, launching a game in Borderless turns it off.

Which emulator are you using? I wasn’t sure all of them support FS-R. You usually see it in RPG:3, but it might not be available in Borderless. Have you tried running it in full screen?

It's true, using borderless for regular games requires FSR, but I thought emulation could handle it too. I discovered an intriguing suggestion elsewhere—since emulators act like virtual machines, the display might show full resolution while the game runs at lower quality. This means Gamescope believes you don't need any upscaling.

I missed the initial details. You're referring to system-wide FSR on the Steam Deck. If the slider is set to "on," it will recognize a resolution below 800p in borderless mode and upscale accordingly. This can make a noticeable difference. Elden Ring appears slightly oversharpened, but it boosts performance and gives a subtly altered visual style. Yuzu also includes FSR, yet the result remains unchanged. I don't understand why it doesn't improve things here.

I noticed this because I only used FSRC with RPCS3 so far, and it seems to be running full screen, though it might not be borderless. I thought it could be integrated, possibly due to bugs, especially since the emulator already has it. It sounds a bit messy, like there could be "double FSRC" or something similar, which isn't clear. Overall, it seems like some issues are present in both Steam Deck and Emulators. Yuzu does have FSRC? I should try it—it really helps in RPCS3.

Yeah, yuzu offers filtering and the final choice is fsr. As mentioned, it doesn’t seem to make a difference for me. Emulation can be tricky—over the years I’ve adjusted settings on various systems and sometimes unexpected issues pop up where they don’t appear on others. My friend with his Steam Deck and I tend to go through similar steps and don’t always run into the same problems.

It’s usually better to connect with the Discord community of specific emus when there’s a problem. They’re likely aware of a solution or an update in the next version. Regarding Steam Deck FSR integration, it seems emus probably need some kind of support, and this might differ significantly between emulators.
