I recently assembled a new custom water cooled setup with six PWM fans connected to a SilverStone PWM Fan Hub. The cables run from the hub into the CPU fan header. In the BIOS, the fans are reading their RPMs correctly even at maximum speed and loudness. However, when trying to set the CPU fan to silent mode in BIOS, it doesn’t respond and keeps running at full speed. This is happening on my Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 TH motherboard.

Check the temperatures of your CPU directly within the BIOS settings, not through Windows.

Check the BIOS settings directly, not via Windows. The current CPU temperature is 30 degrees Celsius, and all fans are operating at full speed. To adjust the BIOS settings from within it, follow the on-screen instructions for temperature control.

Download the BIOS file to a USB flash drive and apply Q-flash within BIOS. Updated the BIOS to the latest version, but fan speeds remain unchanged.
