I’m facing a frustrating issue with my setup. The ASRock z390 Taichi board runs BIOS v4.30, and my CPU is an Intel i9-9900k. I thought this would work for PTT requirements in Windows 11’s TMP 2.0. However, every time I power on the system, save settings, and restart, it disables itself. I’ve turned off CSM, enabled secure boot, and confirmed the partition is GPT-formatted. Still, the TPM stays disabled despite my expectations. It’s really disappointing since I was planning to play a game this weekend and TPM 2.0 was a must-have.

I'm observing that the BIOS you have was installed in 2020, prior to the release of Windows 11. Occasionally, required features for Windows 11 weren't activated in the BIOS before a subsequent update. The 2024 beta BIOS seems to support resizable bar layouts, making it potentially useful if you have an AMD 6000 series, Nvidia 30 series or newer graphics card. It might be worth considering even if your BIOS is older. My own Asrock Z390 Phantom Gaming 4s/ac was able to activate TPM and Secure Boot for Windows 11 using a BIOS that predates yours, so compatibility shouldn't be an issue. Have you attempted a factory reset followed by enabling TPM and Secure Boot? Some tutorials suggest turning on TPM first, saving, restarting, then enabling Secure Boot. You could also try disabling Secure Boot temporarily before enabling TPM to see if it remains active.

I believe I succeeded in getting it running, but the outcome creates doubt about the motherboard. Regardless of my actions, the PTT kept turning off. I didn’t want to apply the beta BIOS update since the alerts advised against it unless absolutely needed, and once done, there’s no going back. It didn’t make sense because I remember running a Windows 11 compatibility check long ago and it confirmed TMP 2.0 was active with everything functioning properly. I navigated to the chipset settings in the BIOS advanced menu and discovered the problem—a serious one. The listing showed ME Firmware Version as 0.0.0.0, which is not feasible. After checking online, it seems like a failing motherboard or a major issue. This isn’t unexpected given my past experiences where the system would restart and flash the BIOS, leaving the backup chip active. I turned off the BIOS backup temporarily, installed the beta BIOS, which also updated the ME Firmware, now showing a valid version and appearing operational. I was able to reboot successfully with TMP 2.0 displayed as working. After upgrading to Windows 11, I stayed on the system for a while before going to work. At this point, Windows 11 is running, and TMP 2.0 continues to function. I’ll be working late tonight, so I won’t have much time to troubleshoot. I plan to re-enable BIOS backup just in case it crashes, and try flashing from the backup chip. If that fails, I’m unsure whether I can re-flash using the beta version, especially if the system already has that firmware installed.
