Unable to achieve maximum internet performance on the computer.
I recently switched to gig wifi but only achieved a maximum speed of 500. I'm using cat6 cable from the router to my PC, yet it doesn't function properly. My PC also fails to connect when linked directly to the modem. I've confirmed both devices support gigabit speeds and verified all cables are cat6. I installed the LAN drivers, reset the router, and reconfigured it. I replaced my own router with a new ISP-rated model. Tested on another PC and confirmed full gig connectivity works there. My ISP confirmed everything is set up correctly from their end. So far, nothing seems to work. I'm running out of ideas—any suggestions would be helpful!
It seems you're securing a full performance in your home setup. This might depend on whether your motherboard or router is configured for gig-rated ports.
We tested various cables and network cards to determine the bandwidth. @RAM555789 That’s interesting—didn’t notice any Ethernet ports supporting 0.5G speeds...
My board is an Asus Z490i, which means it has just one Ethernet port and operates at 2.4Gb speed. The router I own supports gigabit speeds, so I purchased it specifically for that purpose.
Start a Linux or FreeBSD system running in live mode to check for software issues. Link the devices directly to determine if the problem lies with the router. If it remains unresolved, switch to a different motherboard. (How could someone purchase a board without any ports...?)
