Unable to achieve 144 FPS on a GTX1080 in PUBG
Hello everyone, I recently got a GTX1080 and a 144hz 1080p monitor, but I'm feeling a bit let down since I can't hit the 144 mark. It usually goes up to about 100 average max settings, but when I lower the settings to "LOW" it still doesn't reach that. What might be causing this?
What could be the issue?
My PC specs:
Intel 4790K 4.4Ghz
16Gb DDR3 1600Mhz
SAMSUNG SSD 850
PALIT GTX1080 OC
I think the RAM might be limiting performance... is that possible? Is this normal?
It's actually quite typical to not hit extremely high FPS in that game. I'm using a Ryzen 7 3700X with a 1080 Ti, and achieving 144 FPS is uncommon in PUBG.
I understand, but even reducing the settings doesn't bring it close.
Anyway, although I know this isn't the most powerful graphics card available, I thought it could work. It's the only one I've tried so far, let's check out DOOM.
Thanks for your help!
The problem is related to the CPU, not the GPU. The game also performs poorly in terms of high FPS, even with a strong CPU.
The game is quite challenging. My usual performance is about 100 frames per second, and I'm relieved it's not as slow as the console version.
I own a 8600k and a 1080, but still can't reach 144fps at 1440 on low settings. The game code is poorly optimized.
Hello, I recently spent several weeks adjusting this setup since I have 2080 Super with all settings set to low, and the same problem persists. It’s a memory issue, yes, the CPU is also a bottleneck. Previously, I ran my CPU at 4930k at 4.4ghz using 2x8GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, which gave around 60-160 fps depending on the environment (city setting lower).
I increased the CPU overclock to 4.6ghz and upgraded the memory to 4x8GB at 2133MHz (supports quad channel), resulting in 100-160 fps with a 165Hz G-Sync monitor. The throughput improved and clock speed also rose. Trying to overclock the memory should boost the minimum fps. For me, adding two extra sticks and enabling quad channel increased my performance by about 25%.
P.S. I managed to run the CPU at 4.8ghz briefly with high voltage, which also improved fps further.
