Hello everyone I'm just starting with Linux and wanted to give it a shot. Instead of booting live, I installed it alongside Windows. However, I can't log in to my Elementary OS account now. When I try to enter my password, the screen disappears briefly before showing an error. I checked online and think my storage is full—actually, that was my mistake, I only allocated 10GB. I tried cleaning up temporary files with these commands: sudo apt-get autoremove, sudo apt-get clean, sudo aptitude purge ~/.cache/thumbnails/*.png and ~/.thumbnails/*.png. They worked before this issue started (this is the second time). Then I considered expanding my Linux partition. I logged into Windows and used a partition tool to create a new partition just before and after my Linux one, but merging failed because the software blocked it. I made the new partition in the same format as my Linux partition (ext2). Now I need help increasing the size of my Linux partition without reinstalling, since it contains important data.
