You often encounter a brief flash of the settings menu followed by an instant closure, causing issues with functions like screen resolution or personalization. Have others experienced this problem, or do you have any ideas on how to resolve it?

Let me clarify the changes you made. Did you previously use tools like Classic Shell or Start8? Were you performing a clean installation instead of a simple upgrade? Review Event Viewer for any critical issues that occurred during the process. App crashes are logged there as well.

It was a simple upgrade from Win8.1. There’s no old shell or Start menu. Whenever I attempt to open the settings window, both errors appear at once—one from the app and another from "Side by Side." The app error says: Activation of app windows.immersivecontrolpanel_cw5n1h2txyewy!microsoft.windows.immersivecontrolpanel failed with the message: The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Check the application event log or try the command-line sxstrace.exe for more details. Refer to the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for further help. I also noticed I can’t activate either, and the same error keeps occurring.

Never mind, I found the solution. I can now access everything and finally could activate my copy as well. I'll leave a link to the solution to this issue here in case anyone else runs into this. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...55f?auth=1

Located identical solution elsewhere in the Microsoft Forums discussion. It was a bothersome issue...
