I completely understand what my girlfriend is saying (she's actually my girlfriend, right? 😄)
It varies by game. AA doesn't always come out as the simplest fix to boost framerates. For example, in Batman: Arkham City, DX11 plus tiling isn't playable on my GTX 770. Antialiasing works, but if it makes things look terrible without it, I'd consider enabling MSAA/CSAA or using a third-party tool like an SMAA injector. I generally turn off FXAA because it often reduces quality more than it improves it.
I don't really require AA. I've spent years playing on an Xbox 360, so I'm comfortable with it. I enjoy reflections and textures, though.
It's a cool story, right? I enjoy playing older games at 1440p, but my 970 struggles with overclocking. It hits a ceiling around 60fps in most modern titles, which isn't what I want.
