Traveling through rural roads and villages in the UK, these fresh masts are appearing all over. The signal next to them remains at two bars—are they for another purpose or not yet activated? Do you know if these are the new 5G towers ready for use or serving a different coverage need? The left one I suspect is for 3G and 4G, while the right one highlighted in red is likely the newer setup.

Cell radios are designed for wide horizontal coverage, not vertical placement near the surface or airborne transmission.

This approach to mast has existed for a long time, even prior to the 3G era when such designs were seen as undesirable in many places.
