In short, you can't do anything until they turn it off on their own. Appreciate all the help!

It seems the feature isn't active now, and removing the packages would be an option if it is.

Earlier inspection suggests the third-party security features are turned off unless your Google/Facebook/WhatsApp accounts are linked. Settings > Security & privacy likely have this enabled by default, with options to log keystrokes and add online results to the launcher. If you don’t want these tools installed, consider switching to Ubuntu Server and using a different desktop environment than Unity. Deleting Unity could cause issues due to dependent applications.

If you avoid the Ubuntu app search and instead use a browser, you'll look for online content through web results rather than direct app searches.

I'm not sure since it's disabled. You might be able to monitor network traffic and check if data reaches its destination when you enter information.

You can capture network packets using tools like Wireshark or tcpdump. "Phone home" refers to sending data from your device back to a server, often for logging or troubleshooting purposes.

It seems they updated the process to require consent. Still, it’s wise to stay alert.
