Hello everyone, I just installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS yesterday, but today the system isn’t functioning properly. Once I set my user password, the desktop appears, yet the keyboard and touchpad/mouse aren’t responding. I’ve tried some commands from online guides for recovery mode, but nothing has resolved the issue.

Check if it's running on a laptop or desktop. The issue with the touchpad not working after waking up suggests a potential hardware or driver problem specific to that device type.

You're starting out with Ubuntu, which is great! It's normal to feel a bit unsure at first. Let me know if you'd like help understanding what you're trying to do.

Open the command line at the login screen. Press CTRL+ALT+F1 before logging in to access the console. Enter your credentials there. Once logged in, you can attempt: sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-all. Reboot if needed.

Yes, I can help you discover the IP address of your laptop. Do you own an Android device or another PC that you could use for this purpose?

It seems like you're checking if the system is working properly and asking for details about the laptop. The kernel logs and /var/log/kern.log can help identify issues. Regarding the HDD, it might be frozen—please confirm if everything looks normal.

It's been an Ubuntu issue, usually occurs during an upgrade. Often fixing the input Xserver reinstalls it successfully. It doesn't always work.
