It's been a long time since I relied on Linux as my main desktop system, last being in 2019. I faced problems with many streaming platforms due to resolution limits. Have improvements occurred? I recall some services once restricted streaming quality, but that seems to have changed. For reference, I'm currently running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. My current subscriptions include Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Paramount+, Prime Video, and Apple TV (maybe).

I haven't explored Paramount, HBO Max or Apple TV yet, though I've found other options reliable in my experience. Just verify the privacy settings and software requirements on the installer. Some platforms may slightly reduce quality, but if you value it, opt for local content instead.

I’m really not in the mood to burn my DVDs. Without a Bluray drive on my PC, I can’t transfer those discs. The 1080P streaming quality is fine now, but if I upgrade to a 4K TV later, I’d rather stick with 1080P so I don’t miss out.

Netflix continues to restrict content to 720P on Linux (https://help.netflix.com/en/node/23742). Uncertain about others since I don’t use them. Also, HDR videos won’t appear in HDR format on Linux because the platform doesn’t support HDR yet...
