Hello. You're using Ubuntu Gnome on your laptop without issues during normal use, but you encountered problems installing it on your desktop yesterday. The system identified your second monitor as the main display and incorrectly assumed your primary monitor was on the opposite side. After adjusting the display settings, applying them fixed the issue—except that either the main or secondary monitor stopped working entirely, showing no signal and refusing to show anything. The non-affected monitor only displays the wallpaper and cursor, and launching a terminal isn't possible. Your laptop specifications are: Intel 4770k GTX 780 Asus VI with 2x8GB RAM.

Consider reinstalling it once more, as a different driver may be required for the GTX.

Set up the exclusive nvidia drivers. Note that amd and nvidia gpu drivers for linux aren't reliable, which might not solve the issue.

To use the official drivers, you need to install xorg-legacy; otherwise, the system won't start with a graphical interface: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sourc...ug/1559576

They used a generic driver rather than the newest Nvidia version, which caused the issue. Only needed to update the driver and choose it in the system settings.
