Ubuntu failed to set up a Windows 11 installation drive.
In short, Windows got corrupted on my PC, but I found a working Ubuntu laptop nearby. I used it to install another Ubuntu drive on my USB so I could restart my computer. My PC is now running smoothly with Ubuntu, though I’m still trying to get Windows back. I’ve tried many fixes—Rufus with Wine, Belana Etcher, Ventoy, even Wine for the Windows installer—but none worked. The files are damaged or missing, and I don’t know what’s wrong since I downloaded the ISO directly from Windows. I’ve also attempted to open Windows using tools like Wine, but they keep failing. Whenever I manage to create a bootable drive, it just reports errors about corruption or missing files. I’m stuck and have considered buying a bootable drive online, but it would be four times more expensive than making one myself. Anyone have any ideas that could help?
Ventoy or belena etcher should be viable options. Verify the ISO file is intact and unaltered. Download directly from Microsoft is advised. Alternative approaches include woeUSB or using the dd command as described on the site https://www.fosslinux.com/109720/creatin...-linux.htm. Running the Windows installer through Wine isn't recommended, as Wine isn't ideal for low-level hardware tasks. The most efficient method involves installing Windows in a virtual machine, connecting your USB drive to the VM, and using Rufus from within the VM to write Windows to the USB device.
