Ubuntu 18.04.1 with NVIDIA drivers installed
This situation is uncommon; I've faced graphics driver issues with Linux before but haven't been able to look them up online. I decided to test my old PC to try the new Steam version and couldn't get the NVIDIA drivers to install. I've tried various fixes, including clean installs, but nothing worked. The steps I attempted: activated third-party drivers (caused a black screen on boot with a FSD message), downloaded drivers from a PPA distribution, and followed installation guides from Stack Exchange and Ubuntu forums. I suspect the problem might be related to the bug you mentioned on Launchpad, though the latest version hasn't resolved it. My machine specs are an i7 4790K with a 980Ti, flashing to an EVGA BIOS, using ASUS Impact Z97 UEFI, and booting from a Samsung PM871 M.2 card. Any advice would be appreciated.
This might be the cause. Previously, with Nvidia, I experienced no issues when accessing the extra driver options in settings, and everything functioned properly.
