Ubuntu 17.04 installation issues
Ubuntu 17.04 installation issues
Attempting to start the installer or the freshly set-up system triggers specific behaviors.
Start the installer, I see the Ubuntu menu appears. Try "ubuntu", then click "install ubuntu". Once installed, I can scroll for a few seconds and press enter without any effect. The new screen appears. System details: 3930k, 20Gb DDR3 at 2133MHz. To resolve the issue, I've adjusted the clock to 1600 and used a GTX 970. The boot device is a Samsung Pro Duo 32GB USB flash drive, and I plan to install it on a Samsung PM851 128GB SSD.
It seems you're checking if the steps from that solution apply to your case. Did you want to confirm or explore further?
I left it there for five minutes with that screen, did nothing. I tried UUI on FAT32 again.
You're encountering the message "nouveau ... init failed," which suggests an issue with your graphics card driver. This often points to a problem with the video card software.
Sounds good in theory. I agree with them about the driver aspect.
It seems Nouveau is problematic and can cause issues with NVIDIA graphics cards. I'm attempting to start it on an AMD system, but sometimes it freezes on postcode 25 (EVGA). It mentions needing to modify kernel parameters, though I'm not sure how to do that yet.
