I hadn't installed the Brix mini PC and was planning to run Ubuntu 16.04 for learning Linux and general use. However, I experienced choppy or slow video performance. After some investigation, it seems the latest Ubuntu version no longer supports custom AMD GPU drivers and the built-in ones don’t enable hardware acceleration, leading to the issue. It’s also noted that AMD isn’t developing new drivers for this update. With mixed information from various sources, I’m unsure if there’s a reliable solution. I do have a Windows 10 copy available, but I prefer a Ubuntu setup and wondered if it’s possible.
There’s always a solution with Linux. Consider using outdated drivers or third-party alternatives.
