Hey AC fans, it looks like the next Assassin's Creed game has been officially announced. Ubisoft says that Assassin's Creed Mirage is the new entry in the series. No more official details were shown outside of the art reveal. Ubisoft plans to talk about the game at their Ubisoft Forward event. The stream will air on September 10 at 3 p.m. ET, or 12 p.m. PT. You can watch it on Ubisoft's Twitch channel here. According to some leaks, Assassin's Creed Mirage will go back to basics and there won't be any leveling up or talking systems. Also, the game will take place in Baghdad between the years 860-870. So basically back to the roots of AC like AC1 and AC2? I guess we'll find out more later. This news follows several leaks and rumors about Mirage. This morning, some artwork started leaking out on social media, maybe from Ubisoft's own store. Details of Assassin's Creed Mirage had already been leaking before, including the name and other info. It seems likely to be the project reported by Bloomberg earlier this year. If those reports are true, then the game will probably follow Basim from Assassin's Creed Valhalla and target sometime next year. Either way, the AC1 vibes from that artwork look pretty cool. The last AC was Valhalla itself, which came out in 2020 and got lots of post-launch updates. Ubisoft is also working on Assassin's Creed Infinity, a live service version of the franchise. Looks like a story about a young Basim coming before Valhalla happens. So maybe this game is set 10 years earlier. I think it means you are playing a younger Basim. I don't care if the game goes back to simple stuff and makes you grind for levels, but I really doubt Ubi anymore.
Yeah, it might even be a sequel for that base game based on the info. Even I don't really believe in UBI, but let's see what the devs do with this new AC game. At least they should take away all the grinding this time. Fingers crossed.

Ubisoft just dropped the very first official video trailer for Assassin's Creed Mirage. Also, the French company shared some key details about the game (which they had already leaked before). In this new game, players will watch Basim, a smart thief who wants answers and justice, live in 9th-century Baghdad as he moves through busy streets. The description says: "After a deadly fight for revenge, Basim runs from Baghdad and joins an old group called the Hidden Ones. While he learns their secret rules and big powers, he will get better skills, find out who he really is, and understand a new Creed that could change his life in ways he never thought possible." Yeah, those early trailers and clips don't really show everything we need to know yet. We should see real final gameplay, not just beta stuff from development stages. But it's still good to hear UBI is bringing the AC franchise back to its roots, which would definitely be a nice change if these previews are accurate enough for me. I'm not super into the AC series overall, but I've played AC3, AC4 Black Flag, and even Unity. I think Black Flag stands out as really an awesome game with very satisfying gameplay. We can also use guns here! It's one of the better games in this franchise, if you don't count the first two titles (AC1 and AC2) which are different from what we're seeing now.
Yeah AC 4 is definitely one of the better AC games out there. It's one of the very few games I actually own a Gold version of. But honestly, I did get a little tired of the sword fighting being pretty repetitive too. They often just make you spin around and do that same thing over and over again. They seem to be promising more fluid parkour and more cool assassination moves in Mirage though, so I'm going to keep watching how they handle those animations.
I've played most of the Assassin's Creed games since the original on PS3. I just saw something today that says this one will be adults only rating, partly because there is real gambling in it. That is a big deal if there was real money to be won at AC MIRAGE. It seems like they are trying to sell NFTs and loot boxes. Also, those little micro-payments for stuff that doesn't matter much. I don't know what the ratings were on older games from this developer, but I feel bad saying Mirage is an 18+ game because it's mostly just gambling without a single adult theme. They should have put this money thing as a bonus download instead of in the main game. That way, players can choose to pay for extra stuff if they want, and not buy anything even if their rating says no gambling allowed.
