Sony and Microsoft are often blamed for these problems, but it's really publishers like Ubisoft that push games out yearly instead of releasing them when they're finished. Activision has a big role too, having outsold most other franchises by constantly releasing similar games each year. These companies mainly control the release schedule through lobbying and financial incentives, even though Sony and Microsoft aren't directly involved in the decisions. Unity remains the only console game I haven't tried yet, except for handheld titles. My last experience with an original game was Rogue, which felt like a copy of something I thought was a strong entry since AC2. I was let go when they announced Unity as a multiplayer/co-op focused title. I plan to try it later if it becomes available cheaply. As for Syndicate, I'm excited about the setting but dislike the yearly release pattern. The art style and gameplay remind me of the movie Gangs of New York.
They don't. The only situation where this ever happened was in Watchdogs. When it comes to locked framerates and similar topics, it's usually due to poor design or unskilled developers. For example, the problems with Dark Souls stemmed from developers unfamiliar with adapting games for PC. What are you anticipating from developers? They should cut down on the extra work they have to do within tight deadlines just to create double the amount of assets so they can meet your high expectations for a PC game? No way... I'm sure no game since 2010 has come out with a 4K texture option because the creators are trying to earn more from Sony.
I don't think they need to increase the effort that much. However, if they create a trailer that feels authentic and impressive, and present it as part of the game, that would be great. Also, they shouldn't rush efforts at the same time. They should set a clear release date and only announce the game once it's finished. Keep pushing forward.
Ubisoft has taken a step back. These promotional clips aren't what we're looking for. It seems your focus was more on the finances than delivering a solid game. We're here for reliable PC versions and functional titles right from the start—remember, we invested in you for a complete product! Is that really reasonable?
Using that approach, the next time you make a mistake at work, you'll lose your job forever. Regarding this video, it seems like just marketing hype to push the upcoming game. Sony and Microsoft are not great at supporting developers. They pushed consoles that were mediocre at launch and turned them into older PC parts. Ubisoft was meant for them, but the console version of Witcher 3 would likely suffer the same downgrade as any other title compared to PC. You can't self-publish on consoles unless Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo give you permission. It's similar to claiming you can upload apps to the Apple Store without their approval. This situation reminds me of Skyrim mods and how everyone was furious with Valve while Bethesda ignored the complaints.
I really think the developers understand how frustrating it is when years of work get ruined because of management decisions. I won’t pre-order right now, but I’ll wait until the game launches. If it’s well-polished and the design issues are resolved in Unity, I’ll definitely buy it.
