Far Cry 4 and Watch Dogs discussions highlight differing perspectives on platform performance. Far Cry 4’s original mention came from Hutchinson, who referenced a podcast discussion suggesting PS4 and Xbox One versions matched PC’s high-end settings. He clarified that Ubisoft mainly builds for PC, with Assassin’s Creed adapting to console platforms. The exact remark was about seeing the ultra-high PC version before on consoles, not confirming direct equivalence.

Watch Dogs revealed modders found hidden graphics files that boosted visual quality to match the original 2012 release. However, activating these features could harm performance and reduce clarity. The developers prioritized playability over flashy visuals.

Assassin’s Creed emphasized that modders reported no stability problems, contradicting claims about performance issues. The developer’s stance was clear: enhancements focused on fun, not technical spectacle.

PC compatibility demands specific hardware—CPU cores, RAM, GPU specifications, and OS version. Consoles offer more uniform setups, making optimization smoother. PC development is complex but manageable with the right tools.

I believe the explanation is too basic about PC tuning. While every title has its baseline needs, some setups that go beyond those limits can still face issues when trying to run games that aren't fully compatible. It doesn’t seem straightforward, though, that Ubisoft mainly focuses on consoles and has limited experience with PC development. Especially after their early entries in the Tom Clancy lineup, it’s clear they’ve shifted priorities. Ultimately, if people consistently avoid Ubisoft PC releases, they might encourage better support for the platform. Until then, console ports will likely remain the main option.

It's disappointing since I was genuinely excited about both games. I enjoyed the earlier titles in both series, but I'm hesitant to support developers who prioritize ease over quality.
