UAC notification appears on secondary display when using shortcuts from standard user accounts.
I'm facing a puzzling issue with my PC running Windows 10 Pro. It has five monitors, with the main one linked to the integrated graphics card. Monitors 2 and 3 use an older discrete GPU, while monitors 4 and 5 also connect to the same model. There are three user accounts—one admin and two regular users. When the admin account runs a privileged program, the UAC appears correctly on the main monitor and can be accepted. The same happens when launching from a shortcut. However, regular users encounter the UAC on the main monitor as well (they can enter admin credentials to proceed), but when they open a program from a shortcut, the UAC shows up on a secondary monitor unexpectedly. This is frustrating because those monitors 2 through 5 are not always in the immediate view of the user. Switching any account to standard mode seems to fix the problem, but converting back to admin doesn’t resolve it. Unfortunately, we can't make all accounts administrators. I searched online but found no recent solutions, even though similar fixes—like unplugging monitors except the main one or moving the UAC prompt—haven’t helped. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Best regards, -a-
Upon startup, the splash screen appears on the designated monitor, typically using HDMI as the main connection unless alternative methods are employed.
At startup, the win logo appears on the main display. The primary monitor is linked through an iGPU using DVI, while the secondary monitors are connected via dGPUs using VGA. No HDMI is available on this setup.
It might be because the system is prioritizing dGPU. Have you attempted booting from shutdown with only the main connection, then tried it after a full setup? I recall needing to do that when using a DVI+HDMI mix.
