I've heard the 5800X can get quite warm, but how intense is it really? I own one with a Be Quiet Pure Rock 2 inside a Phanteks P300. After a 20-minute Prime95 test (though not ideal), the CCD temperatures reached around 84.8°C. That’s unusual since the cores usually peak in the mid-70s. Is it normal for the CCD to stay hotter than other sensors?

Checking HWiNFO64 for temperature readings. The 84°C range is manageable for a Ryzen 5000 when targeting boost speeds, and the Cinebench R23 will show your performance.

These models all perform safely at 90°C when under full load, with the 5600X rated up to 95°C. Factors like cooling solutions, fans, GPUs, and motherboards influence performance. I'm using a 5900X on an Asus Tuf B550-PLUS board with PBO and an OC RTX3060ti. My setup includes a Scythe Mugen 5, six LL120s in a Corsair Commander Fractal Pop XL Air case. Temperatures range from 38°C to 43°C idle, 57°C to 65°C under light loads, and 70-78°C during heavy use. Note: Liquid cooling isn't necessary, but avoid solid front cases for AIO systems. The Cinebench score came in at 15230. The CCD and CPU stayed about 90 degrees throughout, with cores operating between 85-90 degrees. Despite this, the clocks remained fairly solid, and the system drew around 135 watts consistently. I’m not used to such high CPU temperatures, even if it’s technically within limits, so I was curious if something went wrong.

To lower temperatures you'd want to explore PBO and Curve Optimizer, which are essentially advanced undervolting solutions introduced with Zen 3 (Ryzen 3000). I use a 5800x with a 360 AIO EVGA and often hit 1440P at 120 to 144 FPS, rarely exceeding 34°C. Most benchmarks push the CPU to its limit during intensive tasks like overclocking or heavy rendering. However, for everyday gaming and streaming, it offers excellent performance—comparable to a space heater.
